01 · The starting point

Taking notes during the visit, then writing them all over again for the report

A physical therapy record brings together many pieces: history, assessment, where it hurts and how much, what was done in each session. When each part lives somewhere else, following the patient’s progress is hard and putting the report together means copying and pasting. It needed a single place, designed to be used with a phone in hand, during the visit.

02 · The goal

From the first pain to discharge, without writing anything twice

  1. Rule 1A tap before a formThe assessment is checked off like a worksheet; goniometry and the Daniels scale stay as optional detail.
  2. Rule 2Two pain measures, kept apartThe pain in each area and each session’s VAS are stored and shown separately.
  3. Rule 3Each therapist sees only their ownAccess is restricted per user in the database, not just on screen.

03 · Design decisions

From the first visit to the report, with progress always in sight

3.1

The week and who needs attention

The home screen shows the patients in treatment, the week’s sessions and attendance, and flags who has pain of 7 or more on the map or hasn’t had a session in over 14 days.

3.2

Tap where it hurts

A front and back figure: each area records the intensity (VAS 0–10), the type of pain and how often it happens. Each area keeps its history, with the date and the session it was taken in.

Every session, with its VAS

Each session is logged in SOAP format, with the techniques, attendance and the VAS at the start and at the end. With that, kine charts the progress and calculates the % improvement since the first session.

Two pain measures, never mixed

In the patient summary, the map’s pain by area and the session VAS appear separately: one says where it hurts, the other how much the treatment is helping.

The clinical record, one tap away

History, alerts, habits, physical exam, goals and plan, in sections that show how much is left to fill in. The assessment is checked off like a worksheet, and the most technical parts stay as optional detail.

The report builds itself

Pick the period and the report brings together the therapist’s and patient’s details, the diagnosis, the pain map, each session’s VAS and the progress, ready to print or save as PDF.

How it’s built

Next.js and SupabaseThe app and the database live in São Paulo. Every clinical table has row-level security: not even calling the database directly shows another therapist’s data.
Every change is loggedEdits and deletions of clinical data go into an audit log, for the record keeping required by Argentine Law 26,529.
Frictionless billing and demoA subscription with automatic Mercado Pago billing, with withdrawal and cancellation buttons, and a read-only demo that refreshes every night.

04 · The result

An app ready for the practice

kine brings together the clinical record, the body pain map, SOAP sessions, attached studies and the report in one place, on a computer or a phone. You can try it without signing up through the demo, and use it for free with one patient in treatment.

05 · What I take away

In health, simple is also safe

  1. Measuring well matters more than measuring a lot: separating pain by area from the session VAS made the numbers understandable.
  2. A tap beats a form: if logging takes seconds, the clinical record gets filled in during the visit.
  3. Security belongs in the database, not on the screen: that way it protects even if someone skips the app.
